Keeping HACCP records digitally
If you sell food, you have to be able to show that you check. On paper, that gets lost. Digitally, it is all in one place, with the date.
Short answer
You keep HACCP records digitally by filling in your regular checks, such as chiller and freezer temperatures, use-by dates and cleaning, as a checklist on your phone. Every check is stored with the date, who did it, the measurements and photos. An app does not replace your food safety management system, but it makes the records complete and easy to find.
What you record
Exactly what you have to check, and how often, is set out in your food safety management system or your sector guide. It usually comes down to the same kinds of points:
- Temperatures of fridges and freezers, with a lower and upper limit.
- Use-by dates of products on the shelves and in the chillers.
- Cleaning of work areas, equipment and toilets.
- What you did when something wasn't in order, and when.
How Stipt helps
- A measurement with a limit: enter 9 °C where the maximum is 7 °C, and Stipt sees it at once and turns the inspection red.
- When something is off, an action item with a deadline is created automatically, for example "call the engineer, by tomorrow".
- Every check is kept with date, name, measurements and photos; from the Basic plan you can download them as PDFs.
- You choose how often a checklist is due, up to every day, and get a reminder when it has been missed.
What an app doesn't do
Stipt does not decide what is mandatory for your business, and is not food safety advice. That is down to your food safety management system, your sector guide and the rules of the FASFC, the Belgian food safety agency. Stipt makes sure that the checks you have to do are done the same way every time, and that you can show them.

Frequently asked
Are digital records valid during an inspection?
What matters is that you can show your checks and that they are complete. How you keep them, on paper or digitally, is set out in your food safety management system. If in doubt, ask your sector federation or the FASFC.
How long are the checks kept?
For as long as your account exists. You can always find them by store and by date.
